Philosophy of Law

PHIL 420 is a course in philosophical jurisprudence.  This quarter we will be exploring in some depth two basic questions in philosophy of law.  One is ancient and may well be the classical question in the discipline — what is law?  The other is much more recent — how do we understand tort law?

The course organization, below, reflects the way the course was actually taught on-campus in Fall 2011 when the video-lectures were recorded.  Some weeks are shorter because of holidays, illness, or professional commitments.
